IGBO FESTIVALS AND WHAT TO USE( FOODS, DRINKS AND MUSIC)

By Okechukwu Ononaeke Igbo festivals are Igbo religious occasions dedicated to celebrating CHI UKWU and honoring our illustrious Igbo ancestors.  Igbo festivals include: 1. Iri ji 2. Egwu Mmonwu 3. Ima ntu 4. Ilo mmuo 5. Alumdinanwanyi  6. Nzuko umunna 7. Nzuko Umuada 8.Nzuko umunwanyi( Ndi Iyom) 9. Nzuko Ndi nze na ozo etc They are sacred occasions designed to thank CHI UKWU for his blessings to the Igbo and to seek his support and blessings for the continued good of the Igbo. They are not ordinary occasions. Such occasions are usually attended by our Igbo ancestors.  Our illustrious ancestors must recognise such occasions as Igbo for them to continue to offer their protection to the Igbo. As such only things Igbo must be used for such occasions:  1. Food must be Igbo food: akpu, utara ji, nri ji, okpa, ukwa etc 2. Drinks: Should consist only of Manya Ngwo, Nkwuenu  3. Meat: Azu, anu okuko, anu ehu(efi) Igbo 4. Music: Only Igbo music and folksongs. ...
