How Britain decapitated Igbo leadership.

Before the Europeans came to what later became Nigeria, Igbo communities were run by Elders. The British decapitated this system which relied on Omenala and replaced it with their own WARRANT Chiefs who were mainly people of questionable and dubious character.

In Lagos for example they removed Oba Kosoko and replaced him with his nephew and up North wherever they removed an Emir they replaced him with another Emir. So Igbo land under the British suffered the biggest CULTURE  shock and Dislocation. They systematically dismantled Omenala haven been apprised by their Anthropologists that it is the SOURCE of strength of the people. 

Reason today many Igbos LOOK DOWN on it, not knowing that Omenala is summarized in the so called 'old testament' of the Bible they carry. But Yorubas and OTHERS very wisely cling tenaciously to their culture. Let Igbos take a critical look at Igbo land before the advent of Europeans. It reminds you of the time of the JUDGES in Biblical Israel.
