The Igbo is re-instituting Ilo mmuo ( peace offering) among the Igbo to entrench and deepen unity among the Igbo says Nz'rabbi Remy Ilona, chief Nz'rabbi of Igbo house of Israel obi and worldwidespiritual leader of the omenana restoration movement.
He made this remark in a speech delivered on his behalf by Nz'rabbi Okechukwu Ononaeke, chief Nz'rabbi of Lagos, during the Ilo mmuo (peace offering) feast organized by the Lagos Igbo community.
Nz'rabbi Remy Ilona pointed out that our illustrious Igbo ancestors ( ancestresses) used the peace offering to enhance unity among the Igbo. Every Igbo family and umunna before the onset of current idolatry among the Igbo hosted the Ilo mmuo feast twice a year to felicitate, share gifts, network, settle family rifts, solve Igbo existential problems and entrench Igbo unity. The result was that every Igbo family was united.
Today however, Igbo idolatry has thought Igbo not to do Ilo mmuo feasts again. The result is that the Igbo have never been as disunited as it is today. Nz'rabbi Remy Ilona urged Igbo to go back and recommence the regular hosting of the Ilo mmuo feasts again among the Igbo so as to seek the face of CHI UKWU and to gladden the hearts of our illustrious ancestors who are the link of the Igbo to CHI UKWU.
Nz'rabbi Remy Ilona urged the participants at the feast not to despair over the current situation of the Igbo. He reminded them that the only solution to the Igbo problem is to get religion right by Igbo return to CHI UKWU via his omenana. He said once Igbo do this, every other thing for the Igbo will fall in place.
He commended the Igbo community in Lagos for successfully organizing the event and urged Igbo communities( umunna, obi and Igbo craft associations) every where to replicate and regularise the feasts( twice a year).
Finally, Nz'rabbi Remy Ilona urged all Igbo communities (umunna, obi and Igbo craft associations) to look out for the Igbo weak( the poor and the very elderly) among them, strengthen and empower them to become net contributors to the Igbo Commonwealth.
