The return of the Igbo to CHI UKWU's statutes and ordinances on Igbo deaths, burials and funeral rites will have a salutary effect on the Igbo and Ala Igbo GDP and economy generally.
The return will cumulatively grow Ala Igbo GDP by a minimum of 10%annually( a double digit economic growth). The growth in Ala Igbo GDP will come as a result of the stoppage of the financial wastages by the Igbo in securing idolatrious burials for their loved ones. Such funds ( savings) currently estimated at in excess of 300 billion naira annually will now be directed to productive use to tackle Igbo poverty and power the Ala Igbo economy. The areas in which Igbo families can deploy such savings to include: grants to poor Igbo relatives for starting or re-financing micro businesses, as revolving loans in the name/ memorial of the dead Igbo relative to needy Igbo relatives, to set up trusts in the name of the dead relative to address Igbo existential problems relevant to your own family/ umunna- education scholarships, assist to set up and re-finance Igbo micro businesses, fund basic health insurance for the very elderly in your own umunna in the name of your dead loved ones etc and finally to set up cottage industries in the umunna to tackle Igbo unemployment by creating jobs, thus mopping up jobless unemployed Igbo youths and taking them out of crime. This done continuously will trend Ala Igbo to a zero- hugging crime society making Ala Igbo safe for everyone including returning emigrants and their families. It will also attract investors into Ala Igbo from all over the world ( the investors in Ala Igbo are to initially chiefly consist of Igbo in the diaspora and their friends and associates).
The Igbo return to CHI UKWU's statutes and ordinances on Igbo burial and funeral rites will also create business opportunities in Ala Igbo in several areas and stimulate local agriculture and the Igbo wine industry ( Nkwu enu, Manya ngwo etc). This will create massive job and entrepreneurial opportunities for Igbo in Ala Igbo and attract Igbo in diaspora to return home to exploit and expand the emerging opportunities.
Growing Ala Igbo GDP, more businesses and more jobs also come with increased tax revenues for Igbo communities to continue to finance their operations and developmental aspirations.
So over all, apart from the spiritual benefit available to the Igbo in returning to CHI UKWU's statutes and ordinances on Igbo deaths, burials and funeral rites, there are massive economic gains for every Igbo in the statutes. The IGBO NEWS board of Economists endorses the template in its entirety.
