Agriculture: Why Ala Igbo needs more of Subsistence agriculture.

Commercial farming is great....

...but for Igbos it should only complement subsistence which is central to our valuing our land.

When every Igbo maintained a garden (mbubo), had goats, chicken (okuko Igbo), and aturu (sheep), there were no Igbo praise-singers, and other sycophants. I am a young man but I met the just described Igboland.
The omenana driven Igbo society is a society that is truly egalitarian which can do with no Igbo praise-singers and other sycophants.
Subsistence agriculture by every Igbo complemented by commercial farming will ensure that every Igbo family is well nourished and that food cost as a percentage of family expenditure for the Igbo family trends to single digits which has salutary effects on corruption and other social ills. This will ensure that the Igbo family income is spent more on capital accumulation ( savings & investments) as well as capital budget for the family.
Once Igbo family spend more of their income on capital budget and capital accumulation, they will improve the Igbo capacity to climb the social ladder.
