IGBO UPSCALE NEW MOON ( ONWA OHURU) OBSERVANCE

As Igbo massively return to CHI UKWU and his Omenala, the Igbo have upscaled New Moon ( Onwa Ohuru) observance. The Igbo have always operated the lunar calendar and have always observed new moon every month in every umunna
led by the chief priest of the umunna and the ndi okenye( the elders) of the umunna. You can read details in Things fall Apart and Arrow of God by the Igbo sage, Chinua Achebe.They use such festivals to welcome the new moon and thank the sovereign monarch of the Igbo, CHI UKWU for all the blessings in the land and seek his continued blessings for the Igbo. More and more obi( CHI UKWU's sanctuary) are being reactivated all over Ala Igbo to worship CHI UKWU, study his Omenala and Igbo cosmology and regularly observe the new moon in every Igbo community so as to continue to receive the blessings of CHI UKWU.
