INTERESTING conversations between an IGBO and a PORTUGUESE

Image
By Francis Duru Portuguese: "Are you chatting with your girlfriends online". Igbo: "No!!!. God doesn't like adultery.  Portuguese: (Laughs out loud)"You Africans and religion".  Igbo: "why don't you attend church services since most Portuguese are Roman Catholics?" Portuguese: "The Church is for Romans I'm a Portuguese" Igbo: "Then why did you abandon the Portuguese religion as well?" Portuguese: "It was lost. The Romans overthrew it and gave us theirs. It is a very sad and long story" My comment: Exactly what we have been stressing among the Igbos. To have any chance of remaining a PEOPLE in the next 200 years, igbos MUST return to the Igbo religion or go burst. When powers overthrow a people, the FIRST thing they do is go for the Jugular of the subjugated NATION. They DISMANTLE the religion and put theirs in place. However the real tragedy is when the subjugated people grab their NEW religion and...

OF OMENANA AND THE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS

Image
Remy Ilona Every religion has a mother or sister. I'll get to this. The highpoints of Omenana are: maintenance of the tradition that God is supreme, maintained by the tradition in the name SOSO CHI UKWU KA, placement of high value on umunna (family, avoidance of sin, striving towards holiness, hardwork, protection of women & care for the poor and weaker members of the family. It didn't include speculation about the meaning of a kolanut having 4 lobes. Things like this mattered in Omenana but are remembered only after the more important things have been resolved. Judaism recognizes that Kabbalah is not unimportant but it doesn't teach Kabbalah in the synagogues every week. Draw your conclusions.

The Igbo, Jews and Omenala

Image
By Francis Duru OMENALA = DERECH ERETZ Omenala is distilled from THREE Igbo words (Ome na ala) and is the Igbo translation  of Deuteronomy 6:1. It means 'what is done in the land'. The Jews call Omenala 'Derech Eretz' (The way of the land).   Owning the land is contingent upon following the Prescription for the land. Its like customized or personalized medicine which works best for an individual. If the prescription is NOT followed our ownership of the land becomes TENUOUS and as the scripture said: "The land would VOMIT you". Enemies would put their attention on the land and herd you into labour camps.

Why Ignorance for the Igbo is expensive.

Image
By Francis Diri If you are Igbo and you are one of those who take Pastors home to your family HOUSE in your village to destroy the แปŒfแป (family ancestral rod) which your father ,grand father or great grandfather left behind, or shred the 'akwa mmiri' (prayer shroud or Tallit) which your grand father left behind or the 'mpi anu', 'mpi atu' (shofar) which they left behind because you are told they are items of idolatry and you agree because of your own IGNORANCE, your foolishness has ADDED to our 'loss of identity'. Those THINGS tell you EXACTLY who you are. If you understand who you are, you will also UNDERSTAND why some people want you to be a 'DOT' surrounded by FOES and you will understand many verses in the Hebrew scripture that may appear meaningless to you NOW. BELOVED IGBOS, THE BALL IS IN OUR COURT

Image
By Remy Ilona If we Igbos think deeply about things we'll realize that our fate is in CHI UKWU's & our hands now. And that as very fortunately CHI UKWU has given us the clearest road map ever given to a branch of humanity, we should abandon our ignorance, arrogance, and Afrocentrism, & in a generation skip from a persecuted, oppressed nation to the US, Germany, Japan, China, & Israel combined. Sadly, to cross this Rubicon we'd have to admit that we've been in error for 150 years. Unfortunately, only very few people have the greatness & humility to say, 'I was wrong.' So my beloved people, the ๐Ÿ€ is in our court! NB: AS SOME PEOPLE DON'T CATCH CLUES EASILY I'LL ADD, BELOVED IGBOS THE CULTURE AND RELIGION THAT WILL BRING FREEDOM & SAFETY IS THAT ONE THAT MADE IGBO APPRENTICE TRADITION THE WORLD'S LARGEST BUSINESS INCUBATOR. ITS NAME IS OMENANA. WE MUST RETURN TO OMENANA TO STOP RUNNING AROUND IN CONFUSION!

TAKING IGBOS BACK TO THEIR PAST TO SAVE THEM

Image
By Remy Ilona What would help Igbos a lot is making available to Igbos properly interpreted & authentic accounts of how Igbos lived before Eurocolonialism. When Igbos look at their past, which is still with them they don't see their (Igbo) democracy which is far deeper than anything in the world today. American democracy is representative, but Igbo democracy is participatory. They don't see the beauty in traditions saved in expressions like 'egbe beru ugo beru.'  What Igbos see in their past is 'you heathens, your gods, 'kings', all invented by Igbos colonial conquerors and Nollywood. Why would anyone aspire to go back to a past he's been successfully deceived to see as 'darkness?'

' CULTURE IS DYNAMIC' TO SOME IGBOS BUT NOT TO PRINCE HARRY

Image
By Remy Ilona   Prince Harry didn't think 'as culture is dynamic' let me do away with my family tradition of naming children after illustrious relations.' He named his daughter after the Queen, his grandmother. Meanwhile, Harry's ancestors were among the founders & owners of Christianity. Now come to my own people. Every Igbo Christian is a convert to Christianity. And it is among Igbos you would find people dismissing valuable traditions of their own religion Omenana, which they have ran away from, like a mad dog which abandons its master, with the argument that 'culture is dynamic' and that as Christians they don't have to follow Omenana as our fathers handed it over to us. The wine the bride gives to the groom is thrown away because the groom distrusts the bride's family as he distrusts his own because 'culture is dynamic.'

RECLAMATION OF INDEPENDENCE IS A PROCESS

Image
By Remy Ilona If you are Igbo-Swede, or Igbo-Malaysian, or Igbo-Moroccan, or even Igbo-Lagosian, join, form, an Igbo organization at your base, & connect to Igbo House of Israel Obi Lagos, & Omenana Defenders, to relearn how Igbos serve CHI UKWU for good of Igbos & humanity. To learn again that if you give that old, childless widow in your umunna your tithes, CHI UKWU will bless you. You will be taught again that though you are Igbo-Belarussian that rather than spray cash at psycophants masquerading as musicians you could strengthen Igbo hold on Igboland by gifting 3 goats each to those poor youngsters that are in our hometowns: starting them off in the business of ranching which you and I know that all our grandparents engaged in, & though they didn't build skyscrapers, in their time there were no Igbo beggars.

A NEW NIGERIA OR A NEW BIAFRA: IGBO CHOICE HAD LONG BEEN KNOWN

Prof. Obasi Igwe. This 7th June 2021, it was good listening  to the re-posted  Prof. Soludo's book launch speech which he delivered a few years ago, but which is still relevant today probably about a difference between what the Igbo actually want and what they actually need to optimize their potentials - and when such a debate can start.  The tragedy for the Igbo is that there is hardly any other ethnic group in Nigeria except them that doesn't already know where it is headed to and working assiduously towards. This Igbo tragedy arises from 4 sources:  (a) In the 21st century some Igbo elites do not know yet whether or not they are Igbo first before they are Anglican, Catholic, Ogboni, Freemason, Cherubim, Moslem, Christian and so on. The Yoruba, Fulani, French, English, Russian, Chinese, Bini, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Americans, etc had long solved that simple issue that those personal attachments are subordinate and sometimes necessarily irrelevant to the survival of your o...

Igbo Nation: Kingdom of Priests

By Emeka Maduewesi ๐Ÿ† The picture of Igbo religion (Omenana /Omenala / Omenani) is incomplete without some discussion about priests. The Igbo believes in the priesthood of all heads of households, heads of lineages, and heads of clans. Also, all แปŒzแป titled men are priests insofar as they offer sacrificesand perfom ritual functions including praying to Chukwu and to the ancestors. In addition to family, lineage and clan head priests, there is a class of special priests made up of two categories. One class comes from the Osu, dedicated to service and must live near the shrine. The other class of priests is made up of men and women who become priests by "appointment" by ancestral spirits. Such people behave queerly and are noticed by existing priests who take them in and train them. Such people sometimes combine three functions: those of medicine, with knowledge of healing herbs, secondly, divinition, and thirdly, sacrificing priests. In each villages a priest is known and recog...

Ndi Igbo: The Theological basis of Igbo Legal System.

By  Emeka Maduewesi : Ndi Igbo: The Theological Basis of Igbo Legal System ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ† Among the Igbo, religion and law are so closely interwoven that many of the most powerful legal sanctions are derived directly from God. Therefore, to study and understand the Igbo legal system, it is imperative that you start with their theology.  Igbos had no king, no empire, no parliament. No Igbo cultural practice, which enjoys the status of law, was instituted by any known human. For example, no human instituted the 8th-day circumcision widely practiced by Igbos for centuries before the arrival of the Europeans. Igbo legal System is called Omenana / Omenala / Omenani, which means "what should be practiced/observed/done in the land." Any infraction of Omenala was deemed an offense against "the gods" as some authors and Nollywood now propagate.  Howbeit, the connections between the meaning of Omenala, the practice of Omenala, the belief that infraction offends God, and the words of De...
