By Francis Duru  The ONLY time an Igbo person can justify killing is when he does it in self defense. When that is the ONLY option left to him if he wants to remain alive. In the traditional Igbo communities, MURDER was extremely rare and NOT ever forgiven.  Why was it rare? It was so because ALL saw it as 'Aru'. Aru is something that DEFILES the land and calls for propitiation and CLEANSING! Usually our Levites from the Nri clan are invited to carry out the requisite CLEANSING rituals so that the community does NOT suffer the iniquity of an individual or a few persons.  What happens to the person who kills in error or unintentionally? When the murder is NOT premeditated, Igbos in those days would BANISH the guilty person from the community for SEVEN years.  What of the Igbo Soldier who goes to war and has to kill NOT because he is a MURDERER but because he has a duty to kill. By Remy Ilona  Implications of the Rabbinical Ruling that Igbo people are Israelites  Remy Ilona When a bet din (Jewish religious court) constituted by Obadayah Alliance, a Sephardic Jewish institution or organization, and presided over by Dr., Hakham, Rabbi Yehonatan Elazar de-Mota, ruled mid-January 2022 that the Igbo people are descendants of the biblical Israelites, many issues of monumental importance were raised, and in my view settled. I will discuss a few of the implications in this paper. Most people outside academia are not aware there is no firm agreement that the earliest Israelites existed, because in my view, their culture is nowhere to be found in the world presently, in the view of many of those who research and publish on them.  The existence of the Igbo people and their culture solves the problem I mentioned. Nigeria/Britain swallowed Biafra, which contained parts of Igboland, and some Igbo people. And ultimately swallowed all Igbos, including those outside Biafra (Igbo Deltans), as its target was Igbos and not Biafrans. By Remy Ilona  My parents generation saw that zinc roofing would be better than akayi they rolled their sleeves. They went to work and by 1930 many Igbo homes had zinc roofs. Present generation has by its negligence allowed itself to become boxed into  reacting to; you are dot, with everyone rushing to Facebook and writing, we're dot nation. If Igbos are serious Igbos will stop fixating on Buhari, Nig-eria, & join Omenana Defenders in rebuilding the philosophical basis of the decayed Igbo society. As N-ig-eria wasn't built in a day so would rebuilding Igbo society never be a day's job but be sure that being a reactionary is working negatively.
